As a consultant, the opinion that Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is the way that companies can innovate and provide better customer experience. In addition, organizations can use the approach to develop IT infrastructures capable of supporting dynamic enterprises.

SOA is all about service orientation; it is based on the concept of a service. It is a style of designing and deploying applications in a way that each application are composed of disconnected software agents (services) that have proper defined interface and are designed to perform a specific operation. This allows the organization to divide their applications into reusable components and making it possible to extend an application without touching the vendor specific program. With SOA, it is easy for computers and application connected in an enterprise to work together.  

The idea of SOA allows the business to take overall control in terms of how things should be done. In addition, the organization can look at a challenge holistically. SOA encourages reuse and this will allow the organization spend more time innovating so as to provide better products and services for their demanding customers.

SOA is an approach and a set of tools are provided so as to ensure the defined approach is followed within the organization. This allows the business to respond swiftly and in a cost efficient way.
